He has tried many products and even razor blades to clean the stubborn soot off the wood stove glass door. I mentioned your tips for wood ash. He took a damp rag, dipped it in some ash and wiped the glass. The soot came off like magic in seconds! He is a happy fella :o) Have a great day, DeeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6960946442922071473.post-67267177474172500992012-02-24T21:00:40.909-08:002012-02-24T21:00:40.909-08:00This is all very true and scary. You cannot have half the population working to support the other half. I guess you can but then why work. Too many social programs and too many abusers. I see it all the time and have friends who brag about it. Makes it very hard to remain friends. Gas and food prices are killing us here at our house.Sunny Simple Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13442975157454720956noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6960946442922071473.post-67756247808050670312012-02-23T12:59:51.295-08:002012-02-23T12:59:51.295-08:00If that is true, and I am sure it must be, that ev...If that is true, and I am sure it must be, that even more frightens me. IF we have set up such a system, though it might seem they are 'lucky' in reality they have simply been robbed of the chance to know what it is to care for oneself and to get a feeling of self worth. And this also hurts those that Don't abuse the system. Of course, one can see why the system is thus. That money for medicines are not going to a local druggist but a large drug company. That extra money isn't going to savings for a future but instead into the already far too deep pockets of Apple. Those children being made as a meal ticket and even those working 'under the table' while still taking money, that is all a sign of a system we have let get too far. There is no place for the up and coming business. There is no room for the small town or community to work and make decisions they like for their area and their people, but mandated laws and regulations and then money given to people to only spend back into a system held by a few. It is all quite sad. I only wish I knew what could be done.
However, if things go sour, as they are in Europe and poor Greece and Ireland, what shall become even of those so heavily dependent upon the system. Surely it is meant to be kept going to continue the current status quo, but all things are not infinite and in fact I believe, when one looks at money systems of the past, they invariably crash and burn and none still exist today (except actual commodities of metals, food, and land) and even land now has been falsely inflated and then dropped so many cannot hold onto that either.
If it does all fall around our ears, what shall we all do? And how shall it come about? And how will those, as you speak of, really take care of themselves or their children? I don't know and I wish I did know.
So, it seems, all we little people can do is try our hardest to do what we can for ourselves, work within the system which means learning its ins and outs and look to history for answers.50sgalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09250940806307766624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6960946442922071473.post-24634607716140776352012-02-23T12:16:44.348-08:002012-02-23T12:16:44.348-08:0050s Gal,
Remember to keep in mind those Americans...50s Gal,

Remember to keep in mind those Americans who keep themselves dependent on the government by choice. My husband is an inner city school teacher and many kids brag how their mother's do not have to work, get free food and housing, and have live-in boyfriends who work under-the-table. Many HS students are becoming legally emancipated so that they can qualify for section 8 housing and government aid. Many HS girls get pregnant on purpose so that they can collect government support for the next 18 years. I believe in helping those in need, but what about eh increasing numbers who milk the system for generations. When my husband said something at school about the expense of braces for out children, one of his students laughed in his face and said that "if you were not such a sucker to work, you could get free braces like we do in my family." The kid who said that was carrying an I-phone, and had $300 sneakers. Also, don't forget those who choose to work only the max. of min. hours allowed so the do not loose their benefits. The are many parents at my children's school who brag about having their children diagnoses as ADD so that they get $800 per child from the government; one of these families is on welfare, and is spending this school vacation week in Hawaii - they said that their only living expenses are luxuries, their food, insurance, transportation, schools, school lunches, electricity, oil, and clothing are subsidized, so their welfare check and ADD checks are all pure spending money. Only in America!!!

GiGiAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6960946442922071473.post-32051902928082946542012-02-23T08:12:13.087-08:002012-02-23T08:12:13.087-08:00Our only heat is from a woodstove. We have been preparing to make our own soaps on a larger scale and look to this as our solution.

For the past several years I do believe our nation has been in dire straights, and the only reason we are still standing is that the Federal Reserve(the place where money is printed) holds the most US debt?! It baffles my mind when I think about that.

I highly recommend that people look to the past to at least see what we can learn from those who pulled themselves out before. Times are not looking like they will be rosy financially for a while.Humble wifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02823200562312609670noreply@blogger.com
