I've always assumed that the read would be even more scandalous.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6960946442922071473.post-45909992757742761942011-01-25T06:54:02.412-08:002011-01-25T06:54:02.412-08:00I remember watching the Jack LaLayne show with Hap...I remember watching the Jack LaLayne show with Happy in black and white when I was a kid. Also, Peyton Place. That was something else. I was about 13 when that book and movie came out. My friend and I decided we were going to read it. I don't remember how we actually got our hands on a copy, but we would hole up in her bedroom, lying on our tummies sideways across the bed so that we could toss the book between the wall and the bed any time her mother came into the room. Another friend and I actually got to see the movie. I was at Connie's house when her big sister was going on a date and Connie's mother made Betty take us. Bet she wouldn't have if she'd known we ended up watching Peyton Place. That was definitely a book everyone talked about in hushed tones. BTW, that happened to be in small town mid-America. That was so steamy back then.Nancyhttp://sunnyislandbreezes.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6960946442922071473.post-53290440926016256022011-01-25T03:57:50.174-08:002011-01-25T03:57:50.174-08:00The book sounds very interesting. I recently got married and my mother in law and I were comparing our marriage certificates as hers was quite different from the early '70s and we also came across this card she had. From what I understand the local campground/conservation area used to have a kind of shower for engaged couples where each line would buy a gift for the couple. She said they stopped doing this a long time ago because less and less people were participating. I asked if that was because over the years people did not know eachother as well as they used, if it wasn't as tight knit a community now as it was, and she agreed that that was very likely it. Just another illustration on how people are drifting away from eachother.Country Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16966831200968672277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6960946442922071473.post-78030274170753685342011-01-24T21:41:04.457-08:002011-01-24T21:41:04.457-08:00Well, I was thinking of requesting it from the lib...Well, I was thinking of requesting it from the library but now I'm not so sure I want that kind od "reputation" on my library record. I would have been the one to buy it in another town, cover it in paper, and hide it on the top shelf of a cabinet never to speak of it to anyone.minnie22mnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6960946442922071473.post-20211921095161747582011-01-24T15:39:19.037-08:002011-01-24T15:39:19.037-08:00Since I think I would be the old gal then, that I ...Since I think I would be the old gal then, that I am today (with a bit of modification...but really, I think I would have the same morals, values, etc) I think I would have read the book. I am actually reading it RIGHT now, slowly, but enjoying it. I can not wait to see the movie when I am done with the book.

Where I am, in the book, is where the drunks are holding up in that cellar drinking themselves into insanity. That boggles my mind. What would make a group of grown men lock themselves in a cellar and drink for six weeks? I must have missed it in the book when they gave a reason WHY they did that.

TiffanyDFWgirliegirl Housewifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14802378347475706380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6960946442922071473.post-50925591654576101532011-01-24T14:20:46.956-08:002011-01-24T14:20:46.956-08:00someone just emailed me and said they tried to com...someone just emailed me and said they tried to comment on this post and are having trouble with comments going through. I wonder if any others are having trouble. I have noticed the comments have lessened, but wasn't sure if it was merely my posting subjects or possibly others are having problems. I know google recently changed to a new 'no spam' comment moderator. We have been inundated with spam on the forum as well, which is most likely due to it getting more hits and more members. If any are having trouble with comments email me at apronrevolution@gmail.com Thanks so much.50sgalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09250940806307766624noreply@blogger.com
