These Darling Bunny dolls are easy to make from socks. I have included the pattern today. A great way to either use up old socks or a fun way to use new socks!
Well, Dickie Bennet is singing about a different kind of a doll: a teen girl in dungarees, but its such a nifty ditty, I thought it’d make a great song to accompany you as you make a cute doll out of socks.
What is fun about this song is it mentions a few things teens must have done in the mid 1950’s, such as 1) writing boyfriends initials on jeans 2)wearing old letterman sweaters and 3) making paperclip jewelry.
Enjoy these patterns and if any of you make them, please share your finished results and we can post about them and your results. Simply click on the images and they will enlarge. The second pattern should be printer reader and not need to be increased in scale.

ReplyDeleteI bought several vintage looking patterns today (sorry, but I have to tell SOMEONE and my husband isn't interested!)- BMV has patterns at $2.88-$3.88 each, including some of the vintage ones! I was thrilled to get that poncho-wrap-around dress - do you know which one I mean? There's a hole for your head and ….nevermind. I got frustrated and just looked up the number! Butterick 4790. So I bought that and an apron pattern, an easy pouffy skirt pattern, and a pajama/nightgown pattern! I bought a bunch of old sheets at the flea market this weekend, and I can't think of anything that sounds nicer in this 93F heat than crisp pajamas made from sheets.
ReplyDeleteI'm off to work on my dress now - I borrowed a pattern book from my library that tells you how to measure and fit things perfectly as you sew, and as that is what has been holding me back I might actually get somewhere with this now!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the news of the day, but it is not always I find time to read all of them. Perhaps you should keep them shorter, which would take off some of the burden hunting them?
