Today I would like to share this wonderful article on Thelma Ritter. She was a great and hilarious supporting actress. I loved her in Doris Day’s Pillow Talk. Here she is with co-star Rock Hudson:
Here is the rest of the article (I left some of the old adverts as I think they are great)
There is a Vintage Daily News today and can be accessed by the button or by clicking HERE.
Happy Homemaking.
Great post!!
ReplyDeleteWhere on earth did you find this? I just love Thelma Ritter.....she had a great delivery of her lines, & brought such a "normal" feel to the scenes she played. I can think of her in 3 movies: Miracle on 34th Street, Rear Window, & Pillow Talk. Any others I'm missing?

Oops! I'm starting to read the article, & see that Thelma was in All About Eve....very good movie. I'll have to finish reading the article & see what else I've overlooked. :o)

This was in one of my MANY vintage magazines. If you read the Daily Vintage News you will see her a tiny bit in the clip from the Misfits, with Marilyn Monroe. I couldn't find a clip with her in it, but you can watch ALL of the mistfits on APRON TV (click the link) then go to classic movies, load more and it is at the bottom. She brought a poignancy to that film that it needed. It has a sadness and odd feeling to me whenever I have watched it, mostly due to my knowing of Marilyn's troubled future in the 60's.
ReplyDeleteShe was in many movies including some she was NOT credited for such as Miracle on 34th street, playing Peter's mother.
I will put a list of her movies and tv appearances on today's news, I will update it now. If you want to see them click on the News and then it should be in there, enjoy.
Lovely to see an 'older' not totally glamorous actress being appreciated by her public for her normalcy - we so need more of it today. I would so love to have sat down for a coffee with her!
